#BodyJewelryDotCom Interview : Katrina Zimbaluk
Once upon a time, we came across a vixen with flowing blue hair on Instagram. We immediately fell in love with her profile, her demeanor and energy. Needless to say, we reached out learn a bit more about her. A self proclaimed nerd, tattoo lover, piercing addict, movie buff, alternative style model and trained vocalist. All of the layers of Katrina have us swooning over her ambassador-ship with us…we’re quite lucky to have her on our team. With a cult following on social media, Katrina is just one of those people that everyone wants to know and dote over.
We got personal and wanted to know a bit more about her love of piercings, body modification and more… This is what we found.
Where do you live?
What do you do for a living or are you a student? If you are a student, what are you studying?
In real life I am an Addictions Counselor that works with youth ages 13-18 and I am also in University completing my social work degree. In my spare time I am an alternative model signed with Couture Modeling Agency.
What piercings do you have?
I have my ears (7 in total), both sides of my nose, my septum and my lip.
Do you have any other body modifications, such as tattoos or dermals?
I am covered in tattoos and have my ears gauged to a 00 right now. I haven’t gone the dermal route yet, but I have been thinking about getting my cheeks done for the last 3 years lol.
When did you get your first piercing?
I was 17 and i got my nose pierced right before graduation, my mom flipped lol.
Why did you get your piercings?
I am a huge fan of body mods, piercings and tattoos. I always have been.
Which piercing is your favorite and why?
My favorite piercing has to be my septum, it is my most recent piercing and I am absolutely in love with it.
What was your experience with your piercings when you were actually getting pierced? Would you say it was painful or not at all or somewhere in between?
Some were painful and some not so much, the cool thing about piercings is that the pain is never for a long time unless you don’t take proper care of them.
Are you looking to get more piercings or are you about maxed out?
I’m always looking to get more lol.
Do you have a piercing you regret getting? If so, why?
Yes, my eyebrow. I don’t know why I did it and it didn’t last long but just for me it kept getting caught on things and kept getting infected even though I take really good care of my piercings. So I eventually took it out.
What is your favorite body jewelry for you piercings? For instance, do you prefer simple, steel barbells or elaborate dangling body jewelry and why?
Depends on which piercing but I usually prefer the more simple jewelry. When I was younger I loved the biggest and most elaborate jewelry, now that I’m a bit older I really just like simple.
How does having your piercings make you feel? Does it help you stand out, make a statement, make you feel more unique, etc?
I actually feel like piercings and tattoos are a part of me. Its weird. I don’t see them as an addition of who I am, more like I’m collecting things that always should have been apart of me.
Does your employer or school restrict you in any way with your piercings or body art, or are they supportive?
I am so lucky that my employer has no issue with my tattoos, piercings or blue hair. They are so supportive of me and who I am that as long as I am good at my job (which I am) they have no issue.
If you could give one vital piece of advice to someone who is new to piercings, what would it be?
Piercings are awesome. Yes they hurt. Breathe. Stay calm. It`ll be over soon.
Is there anything else unique to you that you would like for us to share?
Just that I’m stoked to be a rep for your company. Your jewelry is awesome and your customer service is on point 🙂
