I live in Southampton, PA.

What do you do for a living or are you a student?

I work full time for a background screening company in the Human Resources research department. If you are a student, what are you studying?

What piercings do you have?

I have gauged ears- the first and second holes, a triple helix in my right ear, both nostrils, two septum piercings, Medusa, vertical labret, and the top and bottom of my belly button.

Do you have any other body modifications, such as tattoos or dermals?

I have a handful of tattoos 🙂

When did you get your first piercing?

My first piercing was my ears when I was really young. I don’t even know how old I was.

Why did you get your piercings?

I got my piercings because they’re everything I’ve wanted since I was a teenager. It’s all a part of how I see myself, not because I’m trying to be different.

Which piercing is your favorite and why? What inspired you to get your piercings?

I really liked when I had my bridge pierced because I don’t know a lot of people that have that done. I think it’s a pretty bold piercing. I had to take it out because I couldn’t keep it clean with makeup and sweating and being dirty when I’m training at the gym on a daily basis. That particular piercing I’ve wanted since I was 14. I saw a picture of the one guy from The Used who had it done and I thought it was awesome. Everything else, I just like the way it looks. Adds character.

What  was your experience with your piercings when you were actually getting pierced? Would you say it was painful or not at all or somewhere in between?

I feel like piercings are the same as tattoos- some hurt more than others depending on the location. Honestly, the triple helix I recently had done, I definitely was not a fan of having my cartilage pierced, especially three times in a sitting. I also got my second septum piercing in the same sitting and I remember that being pretty sucky, too. But in all honestly, I think the worst part is the aftercare and getting used to the jewelry being in new places. Then you hit them by accident and it’s just a whole ordeal haha.

Are you looking to get more piercings or are you about maxed out?

I will probably get more, but I feel like I’m running out of room in places that makes sense for me to have them. I’d love to get the back of my neck done, but being at the gym, I feel like it would get in the way and get infected quick. I’m sure I’ll come up with something else I want because I get bored. 🙂

Do you have a piercing you regret getting? If so, why?

I have no regrets at all.

What is your favorite body jewelry for you piercings? For instance, do you prefer simple, steel barbells or elaborate dangling body jewelry and why?

Sometimes simple is better. I tend to go for jewels or opals. I rarely wear anything that dangles. I just don’t have a need for those pieces of jewelry.

How does having your piercings make you feel? Does it help you stand out, make a statement, make you feel more unique, etc?

It just makes me feel more complete. I don’t get piercings, tattoos, dye my hair, shave my head, or wear my makeup the way I do to be different, stand out, or make statements. I just do it because it’s all a part of who I am. I wouldn’t feel comfortable with myself if I had just a basic, “the girl next door” style. I was never that girl.

Does your employer or school restrict you in any way with your piercings or body art, or are they supportive?

My employer surprisingly doesn’t care about how I look. I have so many piercings in my face, giant holes in my ears, pretty much a full sleeve, an incomplete chest piece, and random leg tattoos… not once have I been shamed. There are so many people I work with who have extensive tattoos.

If you could give one vital piece of advice to someone who is new to piercings, what would it be?

Don’t be afraid to get it and take care of it! Don’t be afraid of scars. Even they add character… and sometimes they aren’t even noticeable.

Is there anything else unique to you that you would like for us to share on the blog?

Can I say that I’m tired of being told that I don’t “need” all of my tattoos and piercings because I’m pretty without them? Clearly being pretty and impressing everyone else is not what my goals are in life. 🙂
