Easy Does It
Never, ever, ever….EVER use harsh soaps or alcohol based cleansers on the girls. The skin on and around the nipples are made of special tissue that houses thousands of nerve endings so why put that through the burdens of drying out, cracking and splitting, especially during your healing phase. Pay attention to your follow up instructions from your professional piercer and do what they recommend for you. They have the experience and knowledge to make custom tailored recommendations, so don’t disregard them or zone out. We carry super safe and natural solutions dedicated to new piercings!
Rinse, Lather and Repeat
Be sure to rinse, lather and repeat…emphasis on the rinse. With all of the rich conditioners and soaps we use, making sure that soapy residue is not left behind on the delicate skin around the piercing is extra important. Be sure to rinse twice and make sure that the piercings do not have any remnants of soap hanging around to mess with the healing process.
Keep It PG
Okay, we get it that most of us get our nipple pierced for more than our solo admiration for the most part, but keep it PG for the first few months and don’t let the bae suck on the newly pierced love bumps. Ever heard that a dog’s mouth is cleaner than a human’s mouth? Well, it absolutely true. Our saliva has a ton of nasty bacteria and funk floating around, the same kind that cause cavities, so def you do not want that being injected into your girls by your partner’s mouth.
So, we just told you take it PG with your beau in the bedroom, so what gives? Well, we all need Vitamin D to heal skin and a nipple piercing is seen and treated like a wound by the body. Getting some extra sun is not a bad idea to help your body soak up some extra D. Taking Zinc during your healing period can also ensure a healthy, smooth recovery.
Free The Girls
During the initial healing period of 2-6 weeks, give your girls a break from bras. Tight bras can keep the wound from getting fresh air as well as inhibit healthy circulation. Furthermore, if the bra is too tight for too long on the piercings, it can encourage piercing rejection or the piercing to “grow out”. Let the girls free at night and when you are at home and wear a clean, loose fitting shirt to give them plenty of space and air to heal naturally.
Leave em’ Alone
Last but not least, resist the temptation to keep turning your breast up to see the piercings. Let them heal and give them as much touch free healing time as possible. If you absolutely must touch the girls, such as for cleaning, be sure to wash your hands with soap and warm water for at least 30 seconds, rubbing vigorously before you proceed. The number one reason infection is bacterial contamination, mostly from touching fresh piercings.
All Healed & Ready to Dress
Once you have allowed your nipple piercings to fully heal, meaning that there is no pain or discomfort or soreness of any kind when you clean and move the jewelry, it’s time to do all the fun stuff you have wanted to with them. We have to say the nipple piercing jewelry is one of the most diverse areas and just so darn pretty!
